Strengthening Canada’s data and digital sovereignty
There are many great Linux distros available, but none specifically designed and maintained in Canada. Despite being a G7 nation, Canada is lagging in terms of its digital independence. Canada has no truly Canadian AI, git platform, or operating system. These are all key issues that Maple Open Tech (the maintainers of Maple Linux) seek to address.
This project is just getting started. Be sure to check in often, and if you can, contribute by helping us to find and fix bugs!
Our Approach: Lean + Minimalistic
We are a small team, and so we approached this project as a very lean and minimalistic distro. We want to make Maple Linux easy for our users, but also easy to maintain for our team
When you first boot up Maple Linux, it will look exactly like a Debian live session. Once you launch the installer, you’ll see Maple Linux branding, and once installation is complete and you reboot, you’ll see a complete Maple Linux experience.
Stop using an OS that eats up resources just to harvest your data. Maple Linux isn’t here to steal your data or distract you with ads. We are here to help you work.
Save on IT costs — anyone can use our software for free. Maple Linux can browse the web, open your office documents, edit images and so much more.
Increase the lifespan of your hardware. Maple Linux runs great on older PCs – even ones that are 5 years or older! The only core requirement is a 64bit x86 CPU.
